PartyPoker Million V Day 2 & 3
Party Poker
Day 2: Monday, March 13, 2006
We woke up leisurely this morning to a beautiful sunrise on
our side of the boat. After spending some time staring out at sea on the
veranda, I sent T.K. on his way to begin the poker tournament and I headed for
the gym. After a relaxing morning of yoga and a massage, I wandered downstairs
to see how T.K. was faring in the tournament. I walked into a room that sounded
only of shuffling chips. It was too early in the game for any trash talking or
cheering. Once I found T.K. he took a short break to tell me he had two pros at
his table. The guy sitting next to him was Mark……. I had to run back to our
stateroom to grab the camera. I knew I had to catch these guys in action while
they were somewhat fresh!
(tk playing at table with pro Mark Gregorich)
After lunch I went back into the poker room to find more
slumped shoulders and a sad face on T.K. (so much for a poker face). He joined
me on his break and filled me in on the crappy luck he was having. His table
was full of “tight” players and he wasn’t catching any good hands. We walked
outside for some quick stretching and T.K. attempted to pull in good energy from
the ocean before he had to go back in for the grind. I took off to get a little
workout in and do some reading.
By about 4:30pm, it was all over. T.K. met me in the room
looking pretty defeated. The poor guy finally got swallowed up by the blinds.
It really sucks to finally be playing in your dream tournament only to be
eliminated on the first day. At least he wasn’t the first to go from his table
(he was the second L). Here's the
results after Day 1.
Fortunately, we had a nice dinner in the dining room and
met another guy who had met nearly the same fate as T.K. They both agreed
they’d have to try and win this trip again next year. Finally, the talk turned
from poker to upcoming excursions. From here on out, this trip is about
relaxing and having a REAL vacation!
I have to admit, I’m loving this cruise because I get a
“date” night almost every night. Last night after dinner, we caught a movie and
then a comedy show. I’m really impressed with the entertainment they’ve got for
us non-gambling types! Hopefully it will keep me occupied for the long day at
sea tomorrow. Luckily our first port-o-call is on Wednesday.
